Nypa fruticans
This is a life-sized painting of the infructescence of the mangrove palm, Nypa fruticans. The flower-bearing structure (inflorescence) emerges from the palm's crown and once fruit develops, the whole structure drops down and hangs over the water. Once mature, the fruits drop off and float away to form new plants elsewhere.
